Robert Eugene "Bob" Raabe, age 92, passed away on February 17, 2026, in Spring, Texas. Born on January 13, 1934, in Schulenburg, Texas, Bob's life was marked by devotion to his wife, family, service to his country, and a steadfast commitment to his faith and community.
Bob's early years in Schulenburg laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and generosity. After completing his education, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. His two years of service included several months stationed in Germany. Upon his honorable discharge, Bob returned home with a renewed sense of purpose and began building a family with the love of his life of 65 years, Gladys (Hermis) Raabe.
Together, Bob and Gladys raised four children: Robert Emil Raabe; Sandra Neshyba and her husband Val; Bruce Raabe and his wife Staci; and David Raabe and his wife Katrece. Bob's role as a father was one of involvement and nurturing. He was always present to teach, guide, and support his children through every stage of their lives. His legacy continues through numerous beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren who carry forward the lessons he imparted.
Family remained at the heart of Bob's world throughout his long life. He is also survived by his sister Earline Fietsam and her husband Harold; his brother Earl Raabe and wife Betty Jo; as well as many extended family members who cherished him deeply. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Gladys; his brother Roy Raabe and wife Esther; and daughter-in-law Kellye Raabe.
Bob's talents were many. He truly embodied the phrase "jack of all trades." Whether it was household repairs or automotive tinkering, he seemed to know something about everything. If ever there was a problem he hadn't encountered before, Bob would figure it out with determination and ingenuity. He was always ready to lend a hand to family, friends, neighbors - anyone in need could count on him for help or advice.
A devoted Catholic throughout his life, Bob found strength and purpose in his faith. He was actively involved with the church over the years in various capacities, contributing both time and talent to support its mission.
Outside of work and service, Bob found joy in simple pleasures. He loved fishing and hunting—pastimes that allowed him to connect with nature while sharing stories with friends or family. Lawn sports brought out his competitive spirit, while good polka music found him and Gladys on the dance floor. A master at dominos, he was always a sought-after partner at the table. Browsing the aisles with Gladys at Harbor Freight, Costco, or Sam's Club became an adventure unto itself - a chance for discovery or simply enjoying time spent together.
Those who knew Bob will remember him for his quick wit - always ready with a joke or clever remark that could lighten any moment. His humor brought joy to countless gatherings over the years.
Bob's enduring legacy is one of kindness, resourcefulness, laughter, and unwavering dedication to those around him. His memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May Robert Eugene "Bob" Raabe's memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing and serve as a lasting reminder of a life well lived.
