

Terry was born at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas, on the 7th of February 1935, the son of Maurine and Robert Terry Russ, Sr. He graduated from Lamar High School and the University of Houston.
Terry is survived by his wife Cynthia of 54 years; his daughters, Cheryl Nelson, Susan Allen, Carrie Gimmestad and her husband Brad Gimmestad; and son, James “Jim” Russ and his wife Stephanie Russ. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Zachary Walla, Travis Walla and his wife Julie Walla, Everett Walla, Alexa Russ, James Gimmestad and Cindy Gimmestad; and one great granddaughter Braelyn Walla.
Terry retired after 52 years of serving as a Principal of the civil engineering firm Edminster, Hinshaw, Russ and Associates, Inc. and was currently serving as Chairman Emeritus of the firm. His greatest passion was his family and friends, as well as his love for golf. An HGA member since 1967 and former tournament chairman and past President, he was named an honorary director in 2002. In 2006, the HGA created the Terry Russ Shell Houston Open Service Award for outstanding work by a member during the annual tournament. In addition, he was a longtime PGA TOUR liaison, and served as a tee announcer for 25 years.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock this afternoon until eight o’clock this evening, Tuesday, the 21st of August, in the Library and Grand Foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The memorial service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 22nd of August, at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road in Houston, where the Rev. Martin J. Bastian, Senior Associate Rector for Pastoral Care, is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Bagby Parish Hall.
Serving as casket bearers during Wednesday’s services are Zachary Walla, Travis Walla, Everett Walla, Brad Gimmestad, James Gimmestad and Jack Wayman.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Keith Steffek, Butch Gartner, Truman Edminster, Doug Potts, Joe Cohen, Jim Hostetler, Smokey Hundley, Mike Pickering, Duke Butler and all of his Houston Golf Association friends.
Prior to the service, the family will have gathered for a private interment at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
