

He was born July 15, 1951 in Houston, Texas to Robert and Dorothy Taylor. He graduated from Westchester High School in Houston, Texas class of 1969. With a lifelong love of basketball, he began as a player during high school, and continued through his early years of college at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas. He graduated from the University of Houston in 1974 with a B.B.A. in Accounting.
His successful oil and gas career of 40 years began at Union Texas Petroleum continued at Textube, Superior Oil and then Mobil which became ExxonMobil. He finished his career at Enterprise Products and was known as a great leader and looked up to by co-workers.
He played in multiple basketball leagues after college including City League Basketball. Making it a point to attend his kids and grandkid’s games he was always a known presence in the stands, especially by the referees.
An avid weather enthusiast, he often sent the whole family unsolicited daily weather reports. He was always up to date on the latest sports teams, players and games often attending professional sporting events with his children.
Robert met his wife Janet Lee Kuehn in 1995 and they were married on December 21, 1996, recently celebrating their 28th wedding anniversary. They enjoyed numerous family vacations, having family and friends over for get togethers, game nights, swimming and sleep overs with grandkids. They also took pleasure in taking care of their two dogs, Dixie and Daisy. Robert served on the Architectural Control Committee of his neighborhood, Bridgepoint, for seven years. He was liked and respected by the neighbors who worked with him through the years to complete their projects.
Out of all of his accomplishments, his favorite was being a loving father and grandfather. He would do anything for his family. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren which included many golf cart rides, games, joking around, watching movies and his famous horsey-rides.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Earnest Taylor, Sr. and Dorothy Elizabeth Shira Taylor. Robert leaves behind many family members to cherish his memory and to carry on his legacy; his wife Janet; his children Michael Taylor and his fiancée Marissa, Matthew Taylor and his wife Jillian, Sarah Maiden and her husband Bobby, Martin Moad and his wife Jessica; his grandchildren Zachary Taylor, James Taylor, Jordyn Taylor, Clyde Taylor, Scarlett Maiden, Olivia Moad, and Ellie Maiden; his siblings Jan Farmer, Marc Taylor and his wife Pam, Allison Taylor and Thomas Taylor and his wife Lisa; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Two charities that were important to Robert are the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and Wounded Warrior Project.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8th at 2:00pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home located at 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079.
