Robert attended Robert E. Lee High school in Baytown. After high school Robert enlisted in the U.S Army. He served from 1950-1953. His service included the Korean War, and he was honorably discharged on March 23, 1953. Upon leaving the military he attended Lee College of Baytown, where he studied metallurgy.
Robert married Eva Jean Smith on May 28, 1960. He later worked for and retired from Armco Steel. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, playing golf, and watching football.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Eva Thain; beloved son, Robert Lynn Thain and wife, Michelle of Conroe; his dear sister, Dorothy Foster of Baytown; brother Rex Thain and wife, Betty of Baytown; grandsons, Brandon Thain of Kingwood, Lance Thain of Conroe, and Lee Denin of Houston; numerous extended family and friends.
A graveside service for Robert will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
