Roiana was my first supervisor out of college and I will forever be grateful for everything she taught me. She always had such a calming presence and was a joy to work with. Praying for peace for you, Charles as well as the rest of your family. Roiana was and always will be a blessing in my life. 

I worked with Roiana for 20 years at Kolter Elementary.  She was an excellent speech therapist who cared about all of the children she serviced.  We were good friends and stayed friends after she retired.  Roiana was part of our Friends Lunch Out group~friends from Kolter who were like family and met every 8 weeks to swap stories, losses, memories, and laughs.  Roiana told me she always looked forward to seeing everyone at the lunches.  I know that our group~Brenda, Cheryl, Delores, Sharon, Linda, Barbara, Vangie, and myself will miss Roiana, our dear friend with all of our hearts.

Will always remember the many trips we went on together 

So very many memories of Roianna but especially precious are the years when she was David's co-teacher in Central Church of Christ Sunday School. We took a bunch of junior high aged kids to an Astros game. At the end of the 9 innings Roianna seemed shocked that we did not intend to leave. Extra innings. 
Also especially sweet was the time when we took the elementary kids Christmas caroling. Charles and Roianna had started courting and were calling each other "dear" in a shy, sweet way. Even one of the kids noticed and whispered, "I think they might be in love." They were.
I am praying comfort and peace for Charles, for Sara and Kara who were frequent visitors to our Bible classes, and for all the family and friends. I will greatly miss Roiana and share a small part of your loss.

Roiana and I knew each other from Central Church of Christ and later Southwest Centrak Church of Christ. She always greeted you with a smile . Loved when our Care groups met at the Powells house. She will be missed.

Roiana felt like one of our family as I was growing up.  She was always willing to spend her extra time entertaining us when we were staying with our aunts in Houston and join in on the fun...going to Astro games, Astroworld, swimming, and crafting together.  She often joined in on our family trips as well and we always had more fun when she was around.  She was light and love to all her knew her.  Thanks for being part of my childhood memories and sharing your light with me.   

I’ve known Roiana for over 35+ years as we attended church at  Southwest Church of Christ.  Roiana was always so supportive to others by visiting them in the hospital, or taking a meal during recovery, she was always visiting and encouraging others.  Even during her own illness she was more concerned about others.  She was a very special friend and loved by many.  When our church would gather in small groups, most of the time we would meet at my house or at Charles & Roiana’s.  Those were great times spent together that is a wonderful memory.  Roiana and I became  close friends and I considered her my best friend and loved her as a sister.  I will surely miss her and our long talks most every week.  This world is not the same without her.  She will never be forgotten as she will be forever in my heart.   My sincere condolences to her family.  My prayer is for the family to find comfort and peace knowing Roiana now rests in the loving arms of our Lord where there is no more pain or sorrow.  

I first knew Roiana through my aunts when I was a little girl.  I grew up always loving her company.  Whether we were hot and salty on a fishing trip, exhausted on a Grand Canyon hike, or somehow "cheating" during an exercise class, Roiana always made me laugh!  She was SO funny and so clever.  I am thankful for all of my memories with Roiana, and  I feel truly blessed that she was my friend.  She was a wonderful person and I know she is safe and at peace in Heaven.

Roiana and I were roommates at a Abilene Christian and began our teaching careers in Houston  ISD in 1965 at Scarborough Elementary. She brought so much joy into the hearts of each of her students. Roiana’s life reflected her tremendous love for Lord. I’m a better person because she touched my life.
