Hotel in San Antonio, Texas, Ronald Michael Sauter was born on October 18, 1938 to his parents,
Emma Mae (Beseler) and Raymond Michael Sauter After contributing his part to history, he left Texas
and Earth on November 4, 2021.
An early desire to join the Marianists (Society of Mary) started him off in Kirkwood, Missouri. But his influence upon society was meant to be greater. The US Navy grabbed him after graduation from Central Catholic High School, carrying him on a trip to Rome and Florence Italy. That whet his appetite for more, eventually earning a BA in English and History from St. Mary's University and a MBA in Trust Banking from SWGSB at SMU in Dallas. His most satisfying history was becoming the 1000th US Naval Navigator, circling the Globe in a C-130 E Hercules aircraft, carrying supplies where needed, then later teaching Naval Pilots how not to be captured by the Viet-cong during that war. This as an "acting" commandant of a simulated POW camp, with the US Navy's SERE training (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape). He truly felt that as such he assisted in saving a few lives during that conflict. After separation from the Navy, he served as a banking trust officer until he succumbed to the temptation of woodworking. In this capacity he made furniture and ornaments for several churches in the Houston area. In addition, he gave his singing
talent to choirs at St. Jerome's, St. Cecilia's, St Theresa's, and St. Joseph's Catholic Churches of
Houston.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peg" Mahoney, his children and their spouses: Raymond Michael
II (Leocita Talanas), Susan Marie (Kenneth WI Murphy), John Douglas (Colleen Gress), and Brian Thomas (Krystal Delmenhorst) along with his 8 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and siblings: Patricia Ann Mulholland, Judith Leigh Pape, both of the San Antonio area, and David Anthony Sauter of the Austin neighborhood.
