Rosemary Otte Mileti entered her heavenly home on June 8, 2023 at the age of 95. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 27, 1927 in Louisville, Kentucky and attended Sacred Heart Academy High School. She graduated from high school the same year her fiancée, Otto Mileti, graduated from Notre Dame. After a brief courtship, they married in 1946. Rosemary and Otto quickly started a family, having 5 children in 8 years, and in 1958 moved to Houston where they raised their children.
Rosemary will be remembered for her great faith in God and love for her family. She was a beautiful, kind, caring and vibrant person who had the biggest heart and the most beautiful smile. She was a very positive person who will be remembered for the joy and gratitude she always expressed throughout her life. She had a beautiful singing voice and was an accomplished pianist who delighted friends and family with her performances through the years.
Betsy was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, and a daughter of the Colonial Dames. She was a docent for Bayou Bend, being the first docent to receive a 50-year service award. Her love for antiques led her to continued education at the Addingham Summer School in London England. In addition, she was appointed as one of the first woman non-lawyers, to serve on the State Bar of Texas’ grievance committee.
Most satisfying to her was her time in the church kitchen at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, the Texas Children’s Hospital, and M.D. Andersons' Pediatric Hospital. These activities are all witness to her loving and giving heart.
She was not only well-loved by her family and friends but also her many beagles. Betsy never met a stranger. Everyone she met was considered her friend.
Her family would like to thank all those who have taken an active role in the care of her in the past few years, especially the wonderful staff at the Buckingham, and Patty Chavez who took care of her last beagle, Brandi.
Rosemary is survived by her 5 children; Virginia Eades, Eleana Gordon (Leon), Otto Mileti, Marie von Sternberg (Craig) and Nina Kreusch (Fred), and 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren. Rosemary is also survived by her brother Frank and wife Sheila, who have been an invaluable help to Rosemary over the years.
The funeral Mass will be held at St. John Vianney Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, Texas 77079 on June 21st at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow the service at the church.
