Rosemary was born in Duncan, Oklahoma. Her family moved to Austin when she was a young girl. Shortly after graduating high school, she met Robert “Bob” Wollebak . They were married on April 5, 1952, a marriage that would ultimately endure for 61 years until Bob passed away 2 years ago. Rose and Bob raised their family in the Memorial area and then moved to the Woodlands where they resided for 19 years.
Rose was an avid gardener, seamstress, and artist. For many years she was part of two singing groups – “The Deci-Bells” and “The Chordbusters”. They performed to audiences throughout the community singing Patriotic and Old-time Barbershop songs.
Rosemary is preceded in death by her husband Robert Thomas Wollebak, her mother Venice Furst Slaughter, her father Raymond Slaughter, and her great-grand daughter Alexis Escobedo.
She is survived by her brother Max Slaughter and wife Frances, and two nephews Phillip Slaughter and Walter Slaughter and wife Andrea, daughter Debbie Daily and husband Ron, son Stephen Wollebak and wife Linda, daughter Diana Knowlton and husband Jack, grandchildren Casey Wollebak Escobedo and husband Adam, David Daily and wife Leora, Lauren Daily, Andrea Knowlton, Jeff Holden and wife Shawn, and seven great-grandchildren. We will always remember our dear Mom as the vibrant, can-do, fix-it, generous hostess, and beautiful lady we all loved.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Forest Park Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer from 3-5 p.m. celebrating Rosemary’s wonderful life. Donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
