Ruby Mae Upton

Ruby Mae (Hopper) Upton passed away peacefully on May 23, 2024 at the age of 97. She was born on February 8, 1927 in Kenton, Tennessee to Jesse and Carrie Hopper. Ruby married her beloved Ralph Upton on January 1, 1949 in Hickory, Mississippi. They made their forever home which she truly loved and cherished in Houston, Texas. She was on a bowling team most of her early adult life and loved working in her yard with all her plants and flowers, constantly giving them away to all her family, friends and neighbors. She became an avid reader of crime and mystery stories as her activities slowed down during her later years.

She wanted to be remembered as someone who loved her family and deeply cared about others. She wanted the best for her sons in their lives and the lives of their families. She knew the Lord and was ready to be reunited with Ralph knowing that heaven will be the most glorious place ever, far exceeding the beauty and plants and flowers she enjoyed nurturing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph in 1975 at the young age of 50 and her eldest son James Ralph Upton in 1995. Ruby is survived by her son Richard Upton and his wife Kimberlee in Katy, Texas; son Thomas Upton and his wife Dori in Houston, Texas; grandchildren Jon, Jaime, Tony and Stacey, Justin and Natalie, Sarah and Louis and Aimee; eleven great grandchildren.

The funeral and interment will be a private family service at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home and Cemetery in Houston, Texas where she will be buried next to her beloved husband and son.
