

Ruth Jane “R.J.” David, longtime Houston resident passed away on Friday, the 2nd of September 2016 at the age of 90. R.J. as she was known was born in Weston, West Virginia on the 15th of December 1925, to the late George W. and Hallie Gertrude Harris.
R.J. was a graduate of The University of West Virginia class of 1947. She was very dedicated to her family, community, and numerous life-long friends.
R.J. was a stylish, spunky lady always full of life. She could be seen regularly walking with her little Corgi around the neighborhood for many years. She especially enjoyed decorating for Holidays with friends and family; 4th of July at the beach. She loved a party. She enjoyed traveling and the beach. She loved tennis and made many lasting friendships through the game. She was a life-long bridge player. She loved to dress up and loved her scarves!
R.J. was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Bertie Wilson David and survived by her son Robert David and his wife Mary Jane, her daughter Melissa Cordell and her husband Jeff and daughter Lauren, her niece Linda Ruble and her daughter Jennifer and husband Brian Cowdrey, her sister-n-law Betty Jo Harris, and numerous other nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of R.J.’s life will be held at eleven o’clock in the morning, on Thursday, the 8th of September 2016, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in the adjacent grand foyer.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
