

Mrs. Sally “JoAnne” Davis passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the age of 88. She was born November 5, 1932 in Des Moines, Iowa to Harold and Elsie Richard. She graduated from East High School in Des Moines.
On April 14, 1952, she married her high school sweetheart, Rex L. Davis. They had two children, Kristine and Craig. As a result of her husband’s career, they lived in several cities before finally making Houston their home where they lived for almost 50 years.
JoAnne had a devoted heart for service. JoAnne and her husband were active members of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church. She was also a member of the St. Cecilia’s Women’s Club. She was a proud member of The Charity Guild of Catholic Women. She was presented with the 25 Year Service award for her many years of dedication. She had served on many committees, her favorite being the foster children committee.
She was also one of the original volunteers at Memorial City Hospital where she served for 8 ½ years. She was a Patron of the Junior League of Houston and a member of the Women’s Village Republicans. JoAnne was a member of Lakeside Country Club and The Petroleum Club where she served on their Women’s Association boards for many years. In 2003, she received a “Founder Award” for being one of ten women to start the Ladies Association at The Petroleum Club.
JoAnne and her husband loved Big Band music and they were avid dancers. She was the President of the Lamplighters Dance Club at Lakeside Country Club. She and Rex were also instrumental in organizing The Agnes Maule Dance Club at the Petroleum Club. They were the Club’s first Presidents and served on the board for 10 years.
In her later years, she and her husband enjoyed the company and fellowship of their friends in Our Lady of Fatima Guild of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church.
Together, JoAnne and Rex led very rich and full lives. She loved to travel, she loved fashion and she loved decorating and interior design. But most of all, she loved her grandson, Kenny and her great grandsons, Jackson, Theseus and Alaric.
JoAnne is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Rex and her son, Craig. Her parents, Harold and Elsie and brother, Harry also predecease her. She is survived by her daughter, Kris Crowe, her grandson, Kenny Crowe and her great grandsons, Jackson, Theseus and Alaric along with many wonderful friends and family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 9:30 am at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church located at 11720 Joan of Arc in Houston,Texas. Funeral mass will be held following the visitation at 11:00 am. Committal Service will be held immediately following the mass at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas.
