Sandra Ann McCoy was born Sandra Ann Crawford on August 15, 1949, in New Orleans, Louisiana to the parents of Ethen Allen Crawford Sr. and Violet Theresa Crawford, in which she was the youngest of 2 children. Sandra attended and graduated from Joseph S. Clark High School in 1967, attended San Bernadino Valley College in 1975, then served in the United States Air Force as a Military Personnel Specialist and retired from the reserves at Ellington Field as Security Police Armory. Sandra was employed with the Metropolitan Transit Authority as a field service supervisor and retired in 2010. She was also a member of Excelsior Chapter 1290 of the Eastern Stars.
Sandra was raised catholic, made her first communion and confirmation, but received Christ later as an adult and attended the Fountain of Praise Church, where she sung in the choir.
Sandra, aka Sandy, San, or Sam, was rambunctious, fun-loving, soft-hearted, and generous. She had a personality that was larger than life, with a heart to match, and never met a stranger. She would give from her heart, even if she didn’t have much to give.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, goddaughter, and friend. Sandra is preceded in death by both of her parents, ex-husband Raymond McCoy Sr., son Raymond McCoy Jr., and one aunt Bernice Monette. She is survived by her daughter Rayne’ McCoy, son Raymond McCoy, brother Ethen Allen Crawford Jr. (Patricia), grandsons Vincent McCoy and Quentin McCoy, nieces Heather Hampton (Eddie) and Aunjel Smith (Demetrius), nephews Eric Crawford (Ursula), Eddie Crawford (Donna), and Ethen Allen Crawford III, great-nieces, great-nephews, godmother Marion Branch Lawrence, and a host of family and friends.
