I met Sandy when I first started working with Conoco in 1982, she always had a way with making new hires welcomed. What I learned from Sandy is to always look at life with a positive spin even when times are bad and keep smiling!

Sandy was a dear friend, a teacher, a mentor, and a motivator to me. She believed in me and encouraged me to keep moving and achieved my dream.  I was scared to take an offer for the highest position in my career and it was Sandy who said: "Go for it"... It was the last time we had dinner together in Jakarta.  Sandy, I did not regret I took that offer.  I love you Sandy and I miss you.  My prayers go to the Staton family.

Sandy was a special lady and she will be missed. Condolences to her family.

Sandy was known as Gigi to all the neighbors who live by Chris, Teresa and Tanner. She was a fixture for many years at all of our block parties and loved by all. She always came with toys, decorations, food and a smile on her face. All of the neighborhood kids called her Gigi and loved being spoiled by her each time she arrived.
We will remember Sandy fondly especially during our block parties!

My deepest sympathy to Sandy's family.  I was blessed to be counted as one of Sandy's Conoco friends.  She was a loving, full of life, unforgettable person.

I worked with Sandy in Dubai Petroleum Company. She became a very dear friend as well as a hugely respected colleague. Her special gift to me was in training me to facilitate PCL; I treasure the learnings and insights along with the many fond, fun memories from that time. Sandy, touched my heart and spirit and made me feel like I was her best friend every time I shared time with her. I met Sandra through a class at Conoco back in the 90's and she would throw her nerf ball at you to keep you attentive to her presentation, which she was really good at delivering.

Sandy was a force of nature, a unique lady whose energy, humour and passion was infectious - she was a great friend - we shared many a glass of wine and fine food at a range of eateries across Houston and had such a laugh along the way. Dear Chris and Family,

Jeff and I enjoyed so many wonderful Friday night's out with Sandy for dinner - it was either Mexican, Indonesian, Indian or Turkish food. No matter what the menu, we always had a great time.  

We have such fond memories of her kindness and warmth, and oh, she so loved giving theme dinner parties at her home.  She was such a good friend to all who knew her and a wonderful mother and grandmother too.

What a wonderful lady! I first met Sandy through a class at Conoco and was young in my career at that time. I often thought during her classes how I wish I could have the spunk and the ability to present and capture an audience as she did. I still have my little book she gave us with all her  handwritten pages entitled 'Things I've Heard All My Life And Wish I Could Remember...' The last page of the book states 'The world is round and the place that may seem like the end may only be the beginning!' I'm sure Sandy is elated to be in Heaven and knows her final resting place will never end. May God Bless you Sandy and your family.

I had the privilege of serving in the role of Santa (#4 or 5?) - wow, what a thrill.  I can never forget the numerous times she brought laughter to our lives with her endless quotes..."On rainy days I love to curl up in bed with a good book - or someone that's read one lately!"  or "I'm over the hill but not the thrill."  If only she could have fulfilled her ultimate goal in life...a night with Robert Redford - she wouldn't shut up about that man.  I will miss you Sandy - see you on the other side.

I have been struggling to find words all week since I heard of Sandy's passing. How do you possibly try and describe the immense personality and gift of love that Sandy gave to me, Alec and all her family and friends around the world? I met Sandy on my very first week at work with Conoco - I arrived in Houston not knowing what to expect and Sandy simply adopted me. Just swept me up and we were friends - you know the real kind- since that very first day. When Sandy was your friend she gave everything of herself to you. Literally would have given you the shirt of her back if you needed it and was never afraid to hold back and show you how much she cared. All the small things she did to let you know you were important in her life. When we moved to Houston she was there to help us settle and then we would take a turn about at dinner or visits at least once a week. Long wonderful days by her pool, her chicken sopa and wonderful dinners filled with laughter and good times. Our regular girls dinners at Las Alamedas and great shopping expeditions. Her kindness to my Mum in ferrying her around Houston and her ability to know just where to go for that hard to find thing. Her sheer pride and delight in Tanner (GeeGee's brightest star), her love for Chris and Willie and her family. Her huge presence at Conoco. Sandy just lived her life fully and without reservation. Sleep well my friend - although knowing you heaven will be alight with laughter and you will be doing your rounds, spreading your love and getting them all organised. Irreplaceable and always very much missed. Can't be with you tomorrow but will light a candle, drink a glass of white wine and smile a big smile for you xxx

Sandy and I had a special relationship, one of teaching, coaching of career choices, and memories of wandering the halls while staying at the Mansion in Ponca City.  She always held a special place in people's hearts, and will have one in heaven.  God Bless you, Sandy.

Sandy was an encourager. I too have a copy of Sandy's little book of sayings. I've referred to it many times over the years and still do. In Sandy's eyes, everyone was of equal value and everyone needed a hug. What a wonderful role model. Well done, good and faithful servant.

While I worked in London and Sandy in Houston our paths crossed a lot and we became the very best of friends. Her welcome was the biggest of hugs and the biggest selection of sweets..We spent some magic evenings out both in London and Houston,. I had the opportunity to spend time with Sandy as Mrs. Claus as I was Santa Claus for Conoco.  Sandy and I found a way to put some cheer in the lives of people that may not have the best circumstances at a joyous time.  Sandy was always looking to make people smile no matter the environment.  She will be missed by so many.

Angels are often disguised as friends. I was blessed to know and work with Sandy at Conoco. She was the most caring person. I smile everytime I Remember...her laughter, her positive attitude, and her kind words of advice she shared in her little book of life's quotes.

I met Sandy at a class she was teaching at Conoco.  She was a lovely, joyful lady.  I also have the little book of sayings that she gave out.  May her family and friends be comforted during this time.  God bless.

Sandy facilitated some classes I took at Conoco several years ago. She was such a hoot and a great leader!  My condolences to her family and friends during this time of loss!  Gone...but never forgotten!!!

I worked with Sandy at Conoco and she was one of the sweetest ladies I've known.  She made you feel as though she had known you forever and no one was a stranger.  Heaven is a happier place and God has a special angel in his presence.

Sandy was a very special person to me and I would always look forward to chatting with her about her latest adventures.  She would raise the level of cheer and positivity in any room she entered. Of course, Sandy's hugs had a way of endearing us all to the love that she had to share.  Sandy will be sorely missed!

I met Sandy in 1997 when I joined the Conoco family she was every newcomers delight.  She welcomed you with open arms and many Hugs.  I especially enjoyed her time at the Holiday Concerts where she captured the Spirit of Mrs. Claus.  I have missed and will always miss her in that role.

What a wonderful woman.  She always would remind me to smile.  If I didn't do it, Sandy would say something funny and make me laugh.  I loved her very much and will miss her as all of us will.

I saw her the day before she died and she didn't respond to me. We had been friends since high school and often had lunch at least once a week over the past years.I knew that she had just a short time left but tried to keep her spirits up in my visits. She always told me each time I visited that she was going home tomorrow. Well, last Sunday Sandy went home and she will rest in knowing that hundreds of her friends will always remember her fondly. She will always be alive in our memories and in our hearts.

I am so grateful to have received many hugs from this wonderful person.  My heartfelt prayers are with the family.

Sandy was my aunt and she will be dearly missed. I got to visit her on Friday to say goodbye. It was tough but beautiful. My wife and I cherished the opportunity to just have her squeeze our hands and still have the strength to give us one more big HUG.

When we checked in to see her the guy at the front desk said "Ms. Staton? Such has such an awesome personality!" That was Sandy. She was every waiters best friend after 5 minutes.

Sandy truly was one of a kind.   I worked with Sandy on and off over many years at Conoco/COP.   She lived her life with the end in mind; kind to everyone no matter what her problems were.  She left the world a better place.

Sandy was my coach, trainer and mentor in Conoco University. Sandy was more than a mentor; she was my friend and offered me her life experience for my personal and professional growth. I thank God every day for giving me the opportunity of having Sandy in my life. Definitely a model of Human Being.

Thoughts and Prayers to family and may your many memories comfort you in the future.  I am blessed to have met Sandy in approx 1980/81 when she joined Conoco & our work group led by Ralph Giles. I will always have great memories of our friendship and her many HUGS.

Sandy welcomed me into the family with open arms when I married her newphew Jim. It was a joy to know her and I cherish all the times we could spend together.  She's a one of a kind woman who will surely be missed here on Earth but we know she is rejoicing with all the angels now.

Sandy was a pleasure to work with during my time at Conoco.  And the best memory many of us have of her was the annual company Christmas concert in Jones Hall - when Sandy played the perfect Mrs. Claus.  She had a wonderful way of engaging the hundreds of children attending and making the evening special for all of us.

Chris and family - so sorry for your lose.  Missing Sandy.  She was a great asset to the training community.  One fond memory I have is when we traveled to San Francisco together for business.  We were walking around and found a Birenstock store.  You know how she loved her birks!  We were both like kids in a candy store. She bought a pair of black patent leather birks - and immediately put them on.  I will miss Sandy - her smile, her "straight talk" and her encouragement.

Sandy was my Aunt Babs' matron of honor and best friend.  I've known Sandy my whole life and just loved her so much.  She was a big part of the Dawson Family and I will miss her smile and the way she made you feel.  I'm sure she knew she was loved by all who met her.

Very SAD news to hear today about the passing of your mother.

Mrs. Staton was like my "SECOND" mother when I was growing up in Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia (late 1960's thru 1970's)  I spent half of my time at the Staton's house . who were our next door neighbors back then and I would ALWAYS go there to play baseball / matt ball and jump on their trampoline and hear Rock/Roll music (with her two sons Willie (RIP) and Chris)  and eat some GOOD American food (my favorites were always her Sloppy Joes and Barbeque Beef sandwiches).

Even though I probably gave Mrs. Staton some of her early gray hairs (not all) when I was a teenager back then .. I still wanted to be connected to her and her family  So after the Staton Family left Saudi Arabia and went to Houston, Texas in the 1980's  My wife and I always kept in contact with Mrs. Staton every time we came to Houston, Texas on vacation .. We would either go to her house on Kenross Street for dinner or go to Mrs. Staton's FAVORITE Arabic restaurant Sammy's Lebanese Restaurant on Chimney Rock and Richmond Avenue.

To show you how caring and loving she was, I remember one incident when I got in trouble with the Houston Police back in 1985, Mrs. Staton (as my SECOND mother) was the ONLY one to accompany me to the court as support (Thank YOU Mrs. Staton!!!!). 

Last time I talked to Mrs. Staton was back in November 2014 and she sounded cheerful . And I will never forget Mrs. Staton's kindness and her hospitality (both in Saudi Arabia and in America) .. Don't know the right words to say to express my sorrow for the loss of Sandy Staton.  I was not as close with her as I wish I had taken the time to become.  She and her family moved from Saudi to houston about the same time as my family, and all were going through a lot of adjustments in adapting to our new environment. She was a wonderful mother and my thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this time of great loss.

I am very blessed to have met and spent time with Sandy.  She and my grandfather spent most every evening together in the tv room watching Wheel of Fortune and whatever else came on tv.  She shared many stories with me and I with her.  I will miss seeing her and spending time together.  My grandfather also sends his thoughts and prayers to the family. ~ Judy K.
