

Shannon Charles Flynn, aged 78, of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away on February 12, 2024, at Houston Hospice, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Camp Shelby, Mississippi, Shannon was a devoted husband to Vicki Hendershot Flynn for 52 remarkable years, a loving father, and a cherished Pops.
Shannon's early life was marked by his academic achievements. He graduated from St. Joseph High School before furthering his education at Millsaps College and the University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned his degree in Psychology. He obtained a master's degree in Hospital Administration at the University of Mississippi.
A patriot at heart, Shannon served his country with honor in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Captain. His service took him to diverse duty stations, including West Point, Korea, and Ft. Belvoir, enriching his experience and dedication to his nation.
He was also a proud member of the Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity.
Shannon's professional life was dedicated to healthcare administration, where he made significant contributions to various cities such as Corinth, Water Valley, Bay City, and Houston. He retired from the Memorial Hermann Health System, leaving a legacy of compassion and excellence. Following his retirement, he continued to impact the community as a consultant for senior living.
A man of faith, Shannon was a dedicated member of Lakewood Church in Houston, where he enjoyed fellowship and worship. He served as a Prayer Partner and various other ministries of the church.
He leaves behind a loving family: his wife, Vicki; daughters, Molly (Chad) Rogers and Ginny (Jason) Hanson; grandchildren, Andrew, Abbott, and Ashley Rogers; Austin and Travis Shannon Hanson. Shannon is also survived by his sister, Mary (Wayne) Edwards; brother, Sean; niece, Erin; nephew, Brendan; and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Kevin John; parents, Charles and Dorothy Flynn; and brother, Michalene.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at T2T.org in honor of Shannon's lifelong dedication to service and community.
Shannon's legacy of love, service, and dedication to his family and country will forever be remembered and cherished.
