Sheb Buckner was born in Centerville, TX on November 28, 1932 to Floyd and Flarty Lacey Buckner. Sheb attended school in Centerville, TX. He became a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church at an early age. Sheb married Serena Josey in 1951 to this union, five children were born. Sheb later married DeDe James in 1979. He worked for Hovas Furniture for many years, McDaniel Mobile, then retired from H.D.H. Instruments in Brookshire, TX. owned by the Hovas Family.
Sheb was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Floyd Buckner, Jr. Surviving family includes his wife, Dede Buckner; three sons: Sheb Buckner Jr., Rickey Buckner, David Wayne Buckner; two daughters: Diane Ramirez (Reginald), Joyce Marie Pugh, and one step daughter, LaQuita Breaux (Dudley); five brothers: Henry Buckner (Gertie), George Ray Buckner (Leatrice), Aaron Buckner(Vernetta), Matthew Buckner (Evelyn), Ezekiel Buckner; two sisters: Roxanne Brown (R.C.) and Barbara Buckner; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
