

Sherrell “Baby Sherrell” Wheeler was born on May 2, 1958, in Houston, TX to Bernice Boykins and Alfred Wheeler Sr. On May 20, 2026, Sherrell peacefully departed this life surrounded by the love and memories of her family and friends.
Sherrell graduated from M.B. Smiley High School in Houston, Texas. After graduation, she began working in the medical field, where she dedicated herself to helping and caring for others. Sherrell decided to pursue her Commercial Drivers License(CDL), opening the door to a successful driving career. Sherrell’s professional journey serves as a compelling testament to the power of ambition and steadfast commitment. Deciding to pursue her CDL proved to be a pivotal turning point, effectively opening the door to a long and successful career in the transportation industry. Throughout her years behind the wheel, she navigated diverse challenges and environments, lending her expertise to reputable organizations such as Avis and Coach USA. She ultimately concluded her distinguished career at the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO), where she was widely regarded by peers and management alike for her unwavering work ethic, reliability, and deep-seated dedication to serving her community. Her transition into retirement marks the end of a commendable chapter defined by professional excellence and a steady hand on the road.
Sherrell was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence brought joy and laughter wherever she went. She was baptized at an early age and carried her faith throughout her life.
Known affectionately as “Baby Sherrell,” she had a beautiful spirit and a natural gift for making
people laugh and smile. Sherrell loved baseball, football, basketball, fishing, music, dancing, joking,
fashion, traveling, shopping, and driving. She was truly a natural comedian whose laughter and
humor could brighten any room. Her love for family was unmatched, and she treasured every
moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Sherrell’s journey with cancer, which began in 2016, was defined by an unwavering spirit of faith,
courage, and fierce determination. After navigating the initial challenges of her diagnosis, she reached
a momentous milestone in 2017 when she proudly rang the bell, celebrating a hard-won victory and
remission while enveloped by the love and support of her family and friends. Though the path took a
difficult turn when the cancer returned in September 2025, Sherrell met this renewed challenge with
the same remarkable grace and strength that had always characterized her life. She continued to fight
with profound bravery until she peacefully transitioned in May 2026, leaving behind a legacy of
resilience that remains an enduring source of inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her children:
Cherona Wheeler-Terrell (Kevin Terrell Sr.), Shuntia Wheeler-Lane (Jason Lane), Andrea Wheeler,
and Aaron Wheeler Sr.(Felecia Wheeler).
Sherrell also leaves behind her loving siblings:
Faye Johnson, Audrey Wheeler, Freda Wheeler, Debra Butler (Wendell Butler), Delverna Wheeler,
Laura Reedy (Rodrick Reedy), and David Earl Edwards (Shirley Edwards).
She leaves behind a loving legacy through her grandchildren:
Tiera Terrell-Noble, Kevin Terrell Jr., Keldric Terrell, Kameron Terrell, Tia Terrell, Tira Terrell,
Kylee Terrell, Ti Terrell(Kaylee), Kiera Wheeler, Matelynn Smith, London Lane, Natriana Wheeler,
Nichelle Wheeler, Chantrel Wheeler, Asia Darden, Azaria Blunt, Chasti Bailey, Erin Wheeler,
Auri Wheeler, and Aaron Wheeler Jr.
She was also blessed with great-grandchildren:
Carter Belfon Terrell, Cayden Belfon Terrell, Irvin Davis III, Imerie Davis, Kayson Wheeler Wilson,
Z’yaire Wheeler Williams, and Aubree Wheeler Puckett.
Sherrell was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Wheeler Sr.; her stepfather, Lee Allen Boykins;
her brothers, Alfred Wheeler Jr. and Essie Jackson; her sister, Joyce Brown; her nephew, Alfred Scott;
her niece, Lauren Reedy; her nephew, Jeremy Wheaton; and her great-niece, Alexis Moten, along with
other beloved family members who welcomed her into eternal rest.
Sherrell’s love, wisdom, humor, and strength will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
