Shirley Marie Dow

Shirley Marie Dow was born February 7, 1937 in Beaumont, Texas to Floyd Green and the late Alberta Lee Scott (Gwinn). Also preceding her in death was her stepfather Lawrence Edward Gwinn; Sister, Betty J. Holt, and Eldest son, Charles Eugene Dow, Jr. In the mid 1950's Shirley left Beaumont, Texas where she was raised by her late Uncle Willie and Aunt Eunice Harris to live with her mother in Houston, Texas. She finished High School in Houston and went to trade school to become and office clerk/assistant. She did a tenured stretch at Lomas and Nettleton Financial Corporation where she was a clerk in the mailroom. Shirley accepted Christ at an early age and was always praising God for the wonderful things he had done in her life. She has been a member of United Outreach Baptist Church for over fifteen years. She was a faithful member and mother of the church and went as often as she could. She leaves to cherish the memories of her life her children, Veronica Marie Dow, Christopher Anthony Dow, Valerie Lauren Harper, Vanessa Elise Curry, and Chadwick Cornell Dow; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Services for Shirley will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014, beginning at 11:00am. The Visitation will be held prior beginning at 9:30am. Both services will be held at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 9833 Bonazzi Drive, Houston, Texas 77088.
