Shirley, known to many as Grammy or Aunt Shirl, was born on October 29, 1936, in Dornsife, PA to Harry and Anna Bucher (Erdman). Shirley met her husband Bill in high school, and they married soon after graduating. They ultimately settled in Williamsburg, VA with their 3 children, where Shirley worked in retail after the kids started school. After retiring, Shirley and Bill returned to Pennsylvania, where they lived and loved and remained married for 62 years, until Bill’s death in 2017.
Shirley loved her family dearly. She enjoyed trips with family, most recently a Disney cruise in December 2024. Shirley could often be found doing a jigsaw puzzle, working a word search puzzle, coloring, or cooking for her kids and baking with her great grandkids! Shirley remained quick witted and could always make people laugh with her stories. She had the most beautiful smile ever. Anyone who knew her will forever miss the little lady with the purple streak in her white hair.
Shirley will also be greatly missed by her friends/honorary family at CrossRoad Church and the H.O.M.E. ladies bible study group as well as her very special friend/honorary grandson JJ Judman. Theirs was a special bond indeed.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and brother, beloved husband Bill, and son Craig.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Fran Morrison of Katy, TX, son Chris (Robin) of Richmond Hill, GA, grandsons Josh Maurer (Mary) of Culpeper, VA, Adam Maurer (Masean) of Austin, TX, Christopher Maurer (Jessica) of Columbus, GA, Lance Maurer (Kari) of Richmond Hill, GA, and Aaron Lapetina (Meredith) of East Bernard, TX.
Shirley is also survived by great grandchildren Conner and Kendall Maurer, Austin and Kylie Lapetina, Karly and Kortnie Burson, Logan Maurer, and Zoey and Harper Maurer, as well as many extended family members.
