Shirley Mosley

Shirley Laverne Whitley Mosley, 85, of League City, TX, passed away on April 6, 2025. She was born in Rockdale, TX on May 20, 1939 to parents Norris Glenn Whitley and Madie Marie Hattaway Jones Whitley. She met William C. Mosley, always Charles to her, in church and they married in December of 1956.

Shirley was a homemaker and the mother of five children. She enjoyed singing, dancing, fishing, jigsaw puzzles, dominoes, casinos, painting, and arts and crafts. She learned to paint watching Bob Ross on television. Some of her sewing projects were drum major uniforms and dresses for wedding parties.

Shirley enjoyed going to the East Montgomery County Senior Center before her illness required her to move to a facility near her daughter June in League City, TX. She had many friends at the Center.

Shirley was predeceased by husband William ‘Charles’ Mosley; son Charles ‘Brit’ Mosley; grandson Rob Ruhlin; father Norris G. Whitley; mother Madie Whitley; mother-in-law Iva Mosley; brothers Harvey Jones, Howard Jones, and Norris D. Whitley; sisters-in-law Alta Jones, Vida McCormick, and Geneva Mosley; brothers-in-law Wallace Ludwick, Cecil Mosley, Bob Hammer, and Max McCormick.

Shirley is survived by daughters Judy (Bruce) Ruhlin, June Huhn, Janet McIntyre, and Johanna (Ken) Friedrich; daughter-in-law Alida Mosley; granddaughters Audrey Mosley, Kristin Mosley, and Lauren Friedrich; grandsons Mike (Diana) Ruhlin, Michael Walker, Bill Mosley, Rex (Jamie) Mosley, Donald Huhn, Lee Mosley, Kurt Huhn, and Karlten Friedrich; great-granddaughters Ruby Mosley and Ellen Mosley; sister Frances Ludwick; sisters-in-law Carolyn Whitley, Louise Hammer, and Doris Burford; brother-in-law Robert Burford; and many nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are Mike Ruhlin, Bill Mosley, Audrey Mosley, Kristin Mosley, Lee Mosley, and Kurt Huhn.

A visitation for Shirley will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 2:00 PM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A committal service will occur Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Fwy, Houston, TX 77039.
