Sidney Warren Terry, lovingly known as “Sid,” passed away on Saturday, the 7th of March 2026. He was 76 years of age. Born on the 26th of February 1950, in Dallas, Sid lived a life marked by faith, generosity, and a deep love for family, friends, and the world around him.
Sid attended Southern Methodist University and went on to build a remarkable career in the Texas title industry. Over the years he owned multiple title companies across the state and earned a reputation as both a sharp businessman and a trusted leader. His work ethic and vision ultimately led him to own StarTex Title, the largest privately held title company in Texas at the time, which he ran successfully until his retirement in 2015. While he was proud of his professional accomplishments, the relationships he built along the way meant far more to him than any business success.
Anyone who knew Sid knew he had a Texas-sized personality. He never met a stranger and had a rare gift for making people feel seen and valued from the moment they met him. Whether it was offering a helping hand, sharing a story, or giving honest advice when it was needed most, Sid always showed up for people. He was deeply kind, incredibly generous, and lived with a gratitude for life that never went unnoticed. His faith in Jesus was the foundation of his life and guided the way he treated everyone he encountered.
Sid loved the outdoors and had a special passion for whitetail hunting. During hunting season, you could almost always find him in South Texas doing what he loved most in the quiet of the brush country. He also cherished time spent in the great northern woods of Wisconsin at his lake house, where he marveled at the beauty of God’s creation.
Yet nothing in the world meant more to Sid than his family. Time with his three daughters, his sons-in-laws, and his four grandchildren was his greatest joy and his proudest role in life. He made it a point to stay close to them through daily texts and phone calls just to check in and make sure everyone was doing well. His grandchildren especially knew how deeply they were loved, because PeePaw never missed a chance to tell them so. The love he had for them was boundless, and it was clear in every moment he spent with them.
Sid lived with a simple but powerful outlook on life that he often shared with those around him.
Sid is survived by his loving family: his daughters, Krystin Hill, Chelsea Waterwall, and Makenzie Schrepfer; his sons-in-laws, Dustin Hill, Kyl Waterwall, and Garrett Schrepfer; and his cherished grandchildren, Kason Hill, Kennedy Hill, Avery Waterwall, and Luke Waterwall. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Dawn Terry, with whom he remained close.
He is also survived by his mother, LaNell “Granny” Green; his brother, Billy Green; and his extended family including Brian Green (Lori) and their children Ty Green (Landri), Kyle Green (Joelynn) and their son Hayes, and Courtney Dickerson (Justin) and their son Rhett; his brother Bobby Green; Shannon Green and her son Cooper Dale; Erica Green; and his sister Sue Green.
A memorial service to celebrate Sid’s life is to be conducted at twelve o’clock noon on Tuesday, the 17th of March, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family asks that you simply hug and spend time with your loved ones. There would be no better way to honor Sid and keep his memory alive than by sharing the love he believed in so deeply.
Sid’s presence filled every room he entered, and though he will be deeply missed, the love and generosity he gave so freely will live on in the many lives he touched.
“Love, love, nothin’ but love!” – Sidney
