Our family is so proud of Stanley Yin, and we will miss our dear husband, father, and grandfather. After a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer, which Stanley fought with faith, strength, and resolve, he went to be with the Lord on October 21, 2025. We are comforted that he is now at peace without pain or sorrow and has entered eternal rest. We will always cherish our many warm memories and the quality time he spent with us here on earth.
Stanley was born in Hong Kong on June 20th,1954, as the fourth child of Shing Piu Yin and Shin Chen Ko. He later immigrated to the United States and followed his brother, Timothy, to attend the University of Houston, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering followed by Texas A&M for his master’s degree in civil engineering. At the University of Houston, he joined the Chinese Student Christian Fellowship where he heard the gospel at a winter retreat and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Stanley met a kind and intelligent girl at a fellowship outing, who eventually became his beloved wife of 43 years, Yvette. Stanley was a devoted father to Paul and Carol, and later their respective spouses, Elyse and Oscar. He attended all his children’s swim meets, picked them up from practice, celebrated their successes and milestones, and supported them with sage advice through tough times.
Stanley was also a devoted public servant and spent over 35 years at the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). He began his career as an Engineering Assistant and worked his way up, eventually retiring as the District Laboratory Engineer, guiding all geotechnical and highway materials issues in the Houston District. Under Stanley’s leadership, the Houston District Laboratory won many awards. He brought out the best of others, mentoring countless young engineers in their careers, and supporting them in their personal lives and ambitions. Both of his children followed in his footsteps and found careers in public service. He was especially proud of Carol for serving as a United States Coast Guard officer.
Stanley loved to travel with Yvette, visiting five continents and making friends everywhere he went. Besides visiting places with Biblical history, he loved being in nature and frequently took his family, including nieces and nephews, to various national parks across the U.S., creating many happy memories and a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors.
Stanley is survived by Yvette, his children Paul and Carol, and his granddaughter Lilian. He is also survived by his siblings, Timothy, Andy, Anne, Mary, and Wendy.
Funeral Service in Stanley’s honor will be held Friday, November 14, 2025 at 9:30 A.M. at Fort Bend Community Church, Building 2 Chapel. Visitation will be held before the service from 8:00 A.M.
