Stephen "Steve" Vaughn Halverson

Stephen V. “Steve” Halverson 54 died suddenly at his home Monday, June 21, 2010. Steve was born in Houston on December 3, 1955, to Vernon and Marilyn Halverson. Steve loved to travel, work his crossword puzzles, and try new recipes. But, more than anything else, Steve loved his four wonderful grandsons, who called him “Pop Steve”. Time with “his boys” was precious and he was their favorite person.

Steve met his wife Theresa at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in 1995 where he was a long time member, elder, usher, and performed other roles that required his help. They were married there in January, 1998, and Theresa’s large family became Steve’s family. Steve and Theresa traveled as often as possible to many wonderful places and enjoyed those with family, and especially his grandkids. His passing leaves a hole in our hearts, yet we know he is with his Lord and Savior.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, his Aunt Jean, and many beloved members from his church. He is survived by his wife Theresa, son Stephen Bourgeois and wife Carmela, daughter Rebecca and husband Jonathan Hutchens, and the boys, George and Owen Nassif and Aaron and Jacob Bourgeois. There are many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, work associates, and his favorite uncle, Norris Flodine. Steve loved much and was loved much. There are no words to express the loss of our friend, supporter, and companion. He will be missed.

Family will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 26, 2010 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 5315 Main St., Houston.
