February 10, 1973 – February 25, 2026
Steven Jonathan Jozwiak passed away on February 25, 2026, in Houston, Texas, after a courageous battle while awaiting a transplant. Born on February 10, 1973, at Houston Memorial Hospital to Clem and Linda Jozwiak, Steven grew up in Cypress, Texas, and Chappell Hill, Texas, where he developed a deep love for family, the outdoors, and hard work.
A beloved father, son, husband, brother, uncle, and friend, Steven was the devoted husband of Mary Margaret Trieff, whom he lovingly called his soulmate. He is survived by his mother, Linda (Small) Jozwiak; siblings Michele Jozwiak and Michael Jozwiak; and a large, cherished extended family. His father, Clem Jozwiak, predeceased him in December 2024.
Steven held a special place in his heart for Rosine Trieff, Rebecca(Trieff) and John Cola, his Aunt Virginia Jozwiak, Uncle Bob, and Aunt Irene Janecek. He loved his nephews Mikey and B(Brendan)Jozwiak as if they were his own sons. He delighted in spoiling his nieces Thea(Cola) Bustos, Lily Cola, and Olive Trieff, and in roughhousing with his nephews Johnny Cola, Peter and Simon Trieff.
Professionally, Steven dedicated 28 years to Sherwin-Williams, starting as a paint mixer and advancing through roles as Third Key, Store Manager, and ultimately Sales Representative for the largest territory in the Houston District. Later, he founded and successfully operated SMJ Painting Services, a painting and remodeling business that reflected his creativity, determination, and strong work ethic.
Steven found joy in the simple pleasures of life: deep-sea fishing, spending time on the Bedias grange with his brother Mike, working on his property in Chappell Hill alongside his friend Chris Nunez, and sharing countless adventures with his dearest lifelong friends from Brenham High School, Jeremy and Kristie Chasteen. Neighbors Bob and Kathi Peffer, Daryl Runge and Scott Cooper welcomed him warmly, leading to many unforgettable (and often unfiltered) escapades.
Known for his strong will, strength of heart, intelligence beyond formal education, inexhaustible energy, priceless humor and uncanny common sense that was “100% accurate” in every situation, Steven was talented, confident, and unapologetically himself.
He was kind to everyone he met and shared a heartfelt bond with his beloved dogs, Wally, Merle, and Ladybird.
Steven expressed deep gratitude for Rachel and Danny Trieff, Michele and Mike Jozwiak who fought tirelessly alongside his wife and with him to keep him alive for the transplant; and the medical team of Dr. Sameer Siddique at Cypress for his dedicated efforts; the attentive and equally unfiltered nurses Mike and Gladys at Baylor Medical Hospital, who cared for his every need around the clock; and Dr. Wu, the relentless CICU physician who exhausted every possible option in the final days to save him.
Steven will be remembered as a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and faced adversity with unwavering strength. His spirit touched countless lives, and he will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
A private gathering of family and friends for Steven’s life will be held at a later time.
