On December 13, 2025, Sue peacefully concluded her journey on Earth and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus. She was 79 years old and resided in Spring, Texas, with her devoted husband, Jimmy, who lovingly cared for her every day during her long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Sue was blessed to share a remarkable marriage with her high school sweetheart and soulmate for over 60 years. Together with Jimmy, she dedicated 43 years to building a successful entrepreneurial venture. Known for her sociability and adventurous spirit, Sue cherished spending time with others whether dining out, cooking in, going to the movies, playing cards or dominos, or spending weekends in Crockett, Texas. Travel was also a passion of hers.
However, those who knew her best would agree that Sue’s greatest joy came from being a mother and grandmother. She profoundly loved bringing her family together, taking immense pride in watching each member thrive and grow.
Sue was born in Lufkin, Texas on March 10, 1946 to parents, Milford Edmond McMullen and Joicy Ween Hutson. Sue’s family moved to Houston in the 1950s where they attended Aldine Church of Christ and schools in Aldine ISD. In 1964, Sue graduated from Aldine High School after meeting her high school sweetheart and future husband, Jimmy.
Sue is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy; their son, Wayne Waldrep; their eldest daughter, Patty Smith & her husband, Joel; their youngest daughter, Cheryl Freeman & her husband, Kevin; their seven grandchildren: Ashlyn, Hannah, Luke, Sydney, Madison, Brooklyn, & Brady; her siblings: JoAnn Shaw, Steve McMullen & his wife, Linda, Vickey Schoenemann & her husband, John, and her sister-in-law, Susan Waldrep & her husband, Winn. In addition, Sue is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
