Suzanne Teri Elizondo was born on February 9, 1955, to Solon Lycurgus Cole and Yoshiko Nakamura Cole. She was born in Fukuoka, Japan and raised in Houston, Texas. Suzanne’s spiritual journey began at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She graduated from Lamar Senior High School in 1973 and attended the University of St. Thomas in 1988.
Suzanne married the love of her life, Manuel Eugene Elizondo, on June 30, 1973, and their union birthed four children. Through her career path, personal passions, and spiritual endeavors with her husband, she sought to glorify God through acts of service, love, and faithfulness. Suzanne was involved with various church ministries from evangelization to feeding the homeless. She participated in the Cursillo Movement working at the St. Paul Cursillo Center as an administrative assistant and later the building manager. Her passion for teaching led her to participate in the Formation Toward Christian Ministry (FTCM) program through the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston to obtain her catechist certificates. For years, Suzanne was a devoted member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church where she taught the youth and guided them spiritually. She later made the Catholic Charismatic Center her spiritual home where she continued to be involved in ministry services.
Suzanne was called home to be with the Lord on December 1, 2025, at the age of 70. She was preceded in death by her loving, devoted husband, Manuel Eugene Elizondo and parents, Solon Lycurgus Cole and Yoshiko Nakamura Cole. We find comfort in knowing her spirit is resting in eternal peace, reunited with family, friends, and embraced in the arms of our Savior.
Suzanne leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Zacariah Elizondo (Teresa), Joshua Elizondo, Abrahm Elizondo, and Eliana Martin (Tony); her grandchildren, Brianna Allen-Martin (Caesar), Jasmine Allen-Martin (Williams), Zacalinh Elizondo, Haylee Martin, Makayla Elizondo, and Naya Elizondo; her great-grandchildren, Bella Hernandez, Jai Hernandez, Iïlah Hernandez, and Kayden Funches; and countless dear family and friends. Though we grieve Suzanne’s absence, we trust in God's promise that we will see her again in His perfect time in paradise.
Rest peacefully, Suzanne. Your light will continue to shine in all of us who loved you.
