Sylvia , a  natural leader, always there  with an ability to think ,  respond quickly, effectively and  with kindness. Took time to listen. she did things  as one would say   " my way".   A queen in her own right. I will miss her , Martin

Sylvia was such a delight. I got to know her through her philanthropic work on behalf of Davis Chevrolet.  She was a great supporter of the fine arts at Pershing Middle School, where I was the PTO President  last year.  She came to several performances and in addition to financial support she really connected with the kids and made them feel special.  My son Toby had the privilege of being one of her employees.  She always called him mijo and he was excited to get up and go to work every day.  She definitely brought out the best in the people around her and will be greatly missed.

When I was a little girl I always wondered if my aunt Sylvia was my namesake. My name also is Sylvia. She is my mothers sister whom I grew up closely with along with my aunts Ida and Letty. I only have a couple memories from our childhood but one that sticks out the most is the four of us at my grandmothers house cleaning one day. We were all goofing around in the kitchen, they all would tease me and play around sometimes getting a little physical. They never truly hurt me but when my grandmother got home I would tattle on them making it sound bad which it never was but my grandmother would get so mad at them I remember her chasing them down the long hallway of her house with a frying pan threatening them for hurting me. No wonder they hated me. lol I look back at those times and cant help but laugh out loud. We would have so much fun I remember drinking a big red from the corner potato chip store and laughing so hard it was coming out of my nose. Happened quite frequently.  Those were the best part of my childhood was being with them after school and during summer while my mom worked.  We would all gather at my grandmothers house and my dad would barbecue out back sitting by the tree. I always looked up to them. They probably hated it but again best times of my childhood. My aunt Sylvia who I was not named for left early and moved to Houston so communication was once a year during the holidays. Every year though she always remembered me and would send me a Christmas gift. It wasn't until about 7 years ago I started sending her a gift as well. This year my gift was late so I called her to let her know I was having it delivered to her work. She immediately called me thanking me for the colorful scarf/wrap I sent her she was always cold at work and she was wearing it proudly. That was our last conversation. I love you aunt Sylvia. I hope you are with mom and everyone else up there in heaven. I hope you are there to light my path whenever it is my time.

My deepest condolences to my dearest friend Ida Leos and her sister Letty.  Words alone can not express the sorrow I feel for you and your family.  Your sister Sylvia was a very nice person.  May she now rest in peace and sleep with the Angels.  Know that your beloved Sisters will be looking down upon you and keep you safe!  Love you My Friend,

My deepest condolences to all of Sylvia's family and friends.  I have always admired Sylvia's bravery venturing out on her own to another city at such a young age.  Rest in Peace beautiful Sylvia and may we find comfort and rejoice on you being reunited with your parents, brothers and sisters to home in heaven.

A Martinez funny to share. I used to flirt and smile at Sylvia when I would see her between classes at Jefferson. Syl would smile and say hi back to me, however, it was as if she was saying save for someone else freshman. Lol
The first time I went to pick up Letty at her house on Ashby street I knocked at the door and guess who answered,,,,yes Slyvia!!!
I was speechless, and about pissed myself. I remember her really smiling at me as if saying your such a loser for not knowing.
A memory I will never forget!!
You will be missed.
