He was born in Navarro County on August 15, 1938. Ted graduated from Mexia High School and received a BS from Arlington State, an MA from the University of New Mexico and an MBA from St. Thomas University in Houston. He was married to Judy Lucas for 58 years. Ted retired from the Space Industry and was a Math Professor in retirement. He had a passion for collecting antique pocket watches, pens, and Native American Bolo Ties.
Ted was a Freemason and a lifetime member of Temple Lodge #6 AF and AM, the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and Ballut Abyad Shriners of New Mexico.
He was survived by Richard Lucas and Rachel Williams, Elizabeth and Ken Lottinger, Rebecca and Lee Thibodeaux and grandchildren, Shelby and Tyler Thibodeaux, Tony Lucas, Nicole Ard, Lucas Lottinger, and great grandchildren, Callen, Cassidy, Zoe and Brynlee Lucas, Makayla and Barrett Ard.
A celebration of life for Ted will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038, followed by a reception gathering from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
Serving as pallbearers are Richard Lucas, Lee Thibodeaux, Ken Lottinger , Tony Lucas, Tyler Thibodeaux, Lucas Lottinger, Jeremy Ard and Noel Lawrence.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that family and friends please donate to MD Anderson Cancer Research, St. Jude's Hospital or any Military Support Group.
The Lucas family also asks that everyone please dress in vibrant colors when attending Mr. Ted's Celebration of Life.
