RaNae spent most of her career working as an Executive Assistant, predominately at Marathon Oil Company in Houston, Texas. She had an artistic and creative soul, which she expressed through a love of music, art, and crafting, especially crochet. She loved sharing these hobbies with friends and instilled a similar love in her daughters.
RaNae is predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Gerald Dykema and her father, Russel Dunkin. She is survived by daughter, Kimberly Tucker and husband David; daughter, Alicia Dykema and fiancé Matthew Greenwalt; mother, Mary Lucille Dunkin; sister, Cynthia Hilliard and husband Mark; brother in law, Joseph Dykema and husband Guy LaPlant, and many other extended family members, including cousins, nieces, grand nieces, and nephews.
RaNae worked tirelessly throughout her life to care for and support her family, especially her husband, who suffered from a stroke in 2013. She determinedly advocated for him and ensured that he was well cared for, leaning on her many friends and her community at Houston’s First Baptist Church. RaNae will be remembered by her crafting group, The Piecemakers, as a warm and compassionate friend and by her daughters as a person who was generous with every part of herself, especially her heart. She was always looking for the bright side of the rainbow and eager to help others.
If you wish to make a donation in lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Houston’s First Baptist Church, where RaNae and Gerald were long-time members, or Shriner’s Hospital, an organization dear to them both for providing life-altering care to Gerald as a child.
