

Thomas W. Garner, long-time NGL trader, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 4, 2013 at his home in Houston. Tom, 65, was one of the founders of Vanguard Petroleum Corp, which traded NGLs between 1975 and 2012. He is survived by his wife, Judy; two daughters, Kristy Garner and Cassie VanLandingham; Cassie's husband, Wade and their two children Garner and Ella; and his sister, Julie Gartrell. Tom grew up in Nebraska and received his BSBA and MBA from Creighton University. He remained very involved with Creighton and in 2010 received the College of Business Alumni Merit Award. During his time at Vanguard, Tom was regarded by peers as a visionary in the NGL trading industry. “His creativity in the market and genuine love for the industry and everyone in it was just unparalleled,” said one former trader. Tom was a devoted father and grandfather, traveling often to visit family. He was a founding board member of the LPG Charity Fund, a cause very close to his heart. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 5, at 10:00am, with a reception immediately following, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road, Houston, TX.
