Thomas Allen Powers Jr.

Thomas A. Powers, Jr. 82, entered eternal rest on December 6, 2020 in Porter, Texas. He was born July 21, 1938 in Rusk, Texas, the son of Thomas and Vivian Powers. Tom graduated from Reagan High School, class of 1956. On April 10, 1964 he married the love of his life, Delma Yvonne Mitchell. He served his country in the US Air Force and the National Guard. Tom retired in 2003 after a 42-year career in aviation with Trans Texas Airways, Texas International, and Continental Airlines. He took great pride in his work. He loved cycling, wood working, and being involved in church activities. Tom will be missed by all who knew him.

Left to cherish his loving memory are his wife of 56 years, Delma Yvonne Powers; children: Wanda Nesloney and husband, Eric; Mona Hudgens and husband, Kenneth; David Mitchell and wife, Lisa; Michael Powers and wife, Shari; grandchildren: Theresa Stirpe and husband, Danny; Jackie Kloc and husband, Brent; Brittany Schroeder, Braelyn Wells and husband, Blake; Ryan Mitchell, and Lena Powers. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Bryant Wood, who along with his wife Yvonne, cared for Tom for the last two years; a brother-in law, Guinn Paxton and his wife Tammy, and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind five great grandchildren.

A memorial service honoring Tom’s life will take place on Thursday, December 10, 2020, 2pm at Friendship United Methodist Church, 22388 Ford Road, Porter, Texas 77365.
