

Life & Legacy
Thomas Henry Winston was born January 15, 1943 in Old Washington County, Texas to Rosie Lee Winston. He was the oldest of three siblings.
The family would eventually move from Old Washington County to Houston, Texas, where he attended public school, graduating from Booker T. Washington High School.
Thomas was united in Holy Matrimony on August 3, 1964 to the love of his life, Georgetta Brown. To this union two children were born, Thomas Baines Winston and Yvette Winston.
He accepted Christ at an early age, and attended Star Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Reverend G. N. Buckner.
In May of 1964 he enlisted in the United States Army and served until 1966 with an honorable discharge.
Thomas became employed with Shell Oil Company in 1971 and was a dedicated employee for 34 years until he retired in 2005 to assist and care for his ailing mother. He would remain as a faithful son and caregiver for 7 years to his mother until her passing in May 2012.
Later in 2012 Thomas would encounter his own health challenges, but continued to trust God, fight and remain strong until he departed this life on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
Thomas will be remembered for his love of sports, fishing, photography and working outdoors.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Rosie Lee Felder; step-father, Abe Felder; sister, Evelyn Joyce Amerson; brother, Ira Gray Amerson and grandson, Theo Winston.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 61 years, Georgetta; son, Thomas Baines Winston (Lucy); daughter, Yvette Winston (Warren); grandchildren, Tyrone Winston (Christina), Samantha Winston, Terrance Anderson Sr. and Quentin Anderson; nephew, Jermaine Amerson; nieces, Carol Love, Kathy Maric Amerson and Iris Lynette Price; great-grandchildren, Rose Winston, Terrance Anderson Jr., T’aron Anderson, Tahiry Anderson, Quiana Anderson and Quentavius Anderson; a host of other nieces, nephews, loving relatives and friends.
