Tom was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, but soon moved to Japan for several years, where he attended Kindergarten. Tom and his family then settled in Kansas, where Tom graduated from Topeka West High School in 1967. He received a BBA from Washburn University in 1973. He attended Kansas State University for post-graduate work, receiving his MBA in 1974.
After graduation, Tom was employed by Conoco-Phillips in Ponca City, Oklahoma in 1975 where he began a long career with the company. He was a dedicated employee for 34 years before retiring in 2009. He was very loyal to Conoco, turning down several offers from competitors. Tom was very proud of the work he did at Conoco and very proud of the company itself. Tom also lived in Texas, California, Delaware, and England.
Tom was a quiet man, but with a very quick and dry sense of humor. He enjoyed his family and friends immensely. Tom also enjoyed bowling and softball in his younger days. When he no longer could run the softball field, he loved to tinker on his car or truck. Tom loved hunting whether it was deer, dove, elk, wild boar, or anything else worthy of the hunt. He especially loved the hunting trips with his friend, Chris.
Tom was a long time member of the NRA, and a member of Pine Forest Country Club for 23 years.
Tom is preceded in death by his father Paul Breitweiser, mother, Veloria Breitweiser, and sister, Diane Smith.
He is survived by his sons Stefan Adam Breitweiser and Michael Olin Breitweiser, the mother of his sons, Lorraine Breitweiser, Sister Paula Harper and husband Paul, their children Matthew and Ashley, and nephew Shelby Smith.
