With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Tommy John Stommel, who departed peacefully on May 1, 2025, at the age of 67.
Born on March 25, 1958, in San Gabriel Valley, California, Tom was a man of passion and dedication. His early years in California ignited a lifelong love for racing—whether it was dirt bikes, remote-controlled cars, or the thrill of NASCAR. He also found joy in fishing, jet skiing, and water skiing in his younger years, embracing adventure at every opportunity.
Tom moved to Texas, where he attended Strake Jesuit College Preparatory. After graduation, he pursued auctioneering school and joined the family business, dedicating himself to his craft with enthusiasm and integrity. A proud auctioneer for 35 years, he took great pride in using his talents to serve the community, lending his voice to charitable events supporting the Boy Scouts of America, Calvary Episcopal School, and other local events.
Tom leaves behind a cherished legacy through his children: Christopher Aaron Stommel and wife Quan Vuong; Lindsey Marie Stommel; Nicholas Ryan Stommel and wife Kassandra Stommel. His grandchildren—Zakary, Tyler, Isabel, Alexa, Xander, Bella, and Aiden—will forever carry his love and wisdom forward. He is also survived by his dear mother, Bonita Stommel, and his loving sisters, Deborah Daniels and Susan Stommel.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Joseph Stommel, and his grandfather, Joseph A. Binard.
A funeral service to honor Tom’s life will be held at Garden Oaks Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Visitation from 10 am to 12 pm with Service to begin at 12 pm. Family and friends are warmly invited to join in remembrance and celebration. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to the memorial fund to assist with funeral expenses.
