Veda Bassett Womack

Veda Bassett Mayes Womack was born on May 29, 1936 in Dallas, Texas to Virgil and Thelma Mayes. She went home to be with The Lord, her husband and other wonderful family on September 18, 2024 after a long and fulfilling 88 years of adventures.

She is preceded in death by her loving and doting husband, Glynn Nelson Womack Sr.; and parents, Virgil and Thelma Mayes.

She is survived by her children, Glen Nelson Womack, Jr. and his wife Laura, Darla Womack Yeager and her husband Robert, and Rex Allen Womack and his wife Pamela; brothers, Virgil C. Mayes Jr. and wife Gloria, and Kenneth W. Mayes; 6 grandchildren, Kasey Nicole, Cassidi Danielle, Paige Alexis, Jaxson Allen, Edyn Elizabeth and Brooke Alyse; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Veda loved to travel, share her love of Jesus Christ in music and service and spend time with her family and numerous friends. Whether it was cruising on the back of a motorcycle thru the roads of Alaska with Nelson, eating Whataburger and hanging out on Friday Night at Kroger with their Old Car Club, cooking Saturday morning breakfast with her delicious homemade biscuits or faithfully playing hymns every Sunday morning, Veda enjoyed life and loved people immensely. Her smile was genuine and her kindness was contagious. She leaves behind a legacy that will shape and guide her family for generations to come.
