Verna M. Wolf

The funeral service will be held on June 25, 2016 at St. Philip of Apostle Catholic Church at 11:00AM with visitation prior to service. Burial will follow the funeral at San Jacinto Funeral Home and Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Advantage Funerals Howard Glendale Chapel.

Verna was born in Wimberley, TX on March 5 1926. She graduated from Bastrop High School. She married James August Wolf on December 7, 1946 and they were married 51 years.

Verna worked as the credit manager for Stewart & Stevenson for 40 years. Her and James resided in Jacinto City for many years and were actively involved in the community and Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading the newspaper, doing crosswords, doting on her many grandchildren, and watching the Astros.

She is survived by her children Gordon Wolf and Pamela Hay, siblings Dera LaFaye “Bobbie” Hanna, Mildred Wiesner, and Michael Lewis, grandchildren Richard (Pamela)Wolf, Sherry (Johnny)Gray, James (Nicole)Wolf, Robert (Monica)Hay III, Rachel (Erik)Hollingshead, Jennifer (Chris)Tinsley, numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and other family and friends.

Greeters at the gates of heaven will be her husband James Wolf, parents Thelma Leona Wachter, Arron Murphy Justice and Stepfather J.G. Lewis Sr.; siblings Hazel Justice, Marie Weisner, Katherine Thielepape, Jake Lewis Jr, Wilbur “Sonny” Lewis, Patrick Lewis and many other family and friends.

In lieu of sending flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Space City Charities in Verna's honor. This 501(c) organization founded the Wolf Scholarship Golf Classic seven years ago to honor Verna's 40 years of service on the Space City Credit Union board, and her commitment to "people helping people." All funds donated will go towards providing scholarships to students.
