Victor Manuel Garcia Sr., a long-time resident of Katy, TX, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2022 at the age of 69. He was born November 9, 1952 in Monterrey, Mexico before immigrating to Houston, TX where he spent most of his teenage and adult life.
Victor attended Lamar High School and the University of Houston, before pursuing his successful career in the restaurant business. He opened his first location of Victor’s Casa Garcia in 1979 near the Beltway and I-10. Other locations followed at Hwy 6 and Clay Road, Fry Road and Saums Road, and South Fry Road near Park Row. Management of the business was always a family affair, and you would often find Victor Sr., Gloria, Juan Carlos, and Victor Jr. at the restaurant together. Victor managed this family business from 1979 until 2021, when he ultimately decided to retire. Juan Carlos continues the legacy today with several restaurant locations of his own.
Victor M Garcia Sr. did not take for granted the amazing community that supported him through the years. He showed his appreciation by generously supporting KISD schools, countless Katy community sports organizations and the Katy FFA.
Outside of the restaurant business, Victor enjoyed playing softball as a young adult. He was a devoted Houston Astros fan and could often be found enjoying the games at the ballpark with his son and grandson. As he grew older, he became passionate about vintage pick-up trucks and cattle ranching. Victor was known for making countless memories for so many families at Victor’s Casa Garcia. His wonderful demeanor, beautiful smile, and talent to remember his guest by name as he greeted them will be forever treasured by many. His infectious smile and laughter could and did fill up any room he entered. Both of his sons have inherited that same trait. Victor M Garcia Sr. leaves behind a legacy of service and community responsibility. His impact on the Katy community will not be forgotten.
Victor is survived by his loving sons Juan Carlos Garcia and Victor Manuel Garcia Jr.; ex-wife Gloria Garcia; father Alejo R. Garcia; sisters Martha P Sweigart, Celeste G. Garcia, and Adriana A. Garner; daughters-in-law Krissy Garcia and Jennifer Yang; and grandchildren Hannah Garcia, AJ Garcia, and Ethan Garcia. He is preceded in death by his mother Julia Q. Garcia.
