Virginia Akum Akuchie peacefully passed away on October 16, 2018 with her son and daughter, Udeze Akuchie and Chinyere Okeke on her sides. She was a wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, and niece to many. She is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Lucius U. Akuchie, Udeze Akuchie (son), Chinyere Okeke (daughter), Chinonyerem Nlechi (daughter), Dr. Uzochi Obioha (daughter), Chioma McRipley, Chris Okeke, Chibuzo Nlechi (son-in-law), Isaiah Obioha (son-in-law), Jason McRipley (son-in-law).
She was equally blessed with eleven grandchildren: Ikedichi Okeke, Dabirichi Okeke, Somachi Okeke, Tochukwu Nlechi, Chimamanda Nlechi Kamsiriochukwu Nlechi, Onyinyechi Obioha, Osinachi Obioha, Chidiebere Obioha, Amarachi Obioha and Chukwuemeka McRipley.
Madam Virgy, as she was fondly known in the community touched many lives her in the US and in Nigeria. She helped her husband to sponsor many people to immigrate into the US and took care of them until they found their footing. She assisted many to startup businesses by providing interest-free loans to them. She was hard on her children and encouraged them to be hard working and independent.
