

Virginia Anderson Ford was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 9, 1926, and passed away in Houston, TX, on April 29, 2011, at the age of 85. In 1935, she moved with her family to Houston, where she spent most of her life. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents: Mary Moran and Gustave F. Anderson; her husband, Edward Ford; 4 brothers; 2 sisters; 1 step brother; 1 step sister; and her beloved niece, Rita Anderson of Flemington, NJ. Virginia is survived by her sister and brother-in-law: Norma & Wallace Davenport; along with numerous nieces & nephews, their children and their grandchildren. Virginia loved her family, friends, music, and her regular customers at Weingarten's, where she was a grocery checker for 32 years. She returned to Brooklyn for several years to care for her sister-in-law, Mildred Anderson who was Rita's mom, until Mildred's death in February, 1994. She returned to Houston in October, 1994, and had a wonderful 8 years at the retirement apartments, Spring Shadows Place, where she made many friends. Health issues forced her to enter a nursing home in April, 2003, and she spent the last 71/2 years of her life at The Westbury Place, where she loved to play bingo, listen to the musical entertainment, attend the various church services provided, and watch "The Wheel of Fortune." Funeral Services will be 12:30PM, Weds., May 4th at Brookside Funeral Home Chapel with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Brookside Memorial Park.
