Virginia Lane Kraatz, age 76, of Dayton, Texas passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022. Virginia was born on August 4, 1945 in Phoenix, Arizona to parents Richard and Edna Williams. She moved to Imperial Beach, California at a young age. She loved growing up in the California lifestyle-sun and beaches with her best friend, Judy Earls, who she remained close to her whole life. Virginia moved to Texas in 1976 and shortly thereafter began her career at Kroger as a meat wrapper. She retired in 2008 as the manager of the seafood department for Kroger. She married Gary Kraatz in 1984 and was married for 38 years. She loved traveling, casinos, tourist attractions and antiquing with her husband.
A beautiful person, inside and out, Virginia was full of life and brought joy to everyone around her. She had a long fight with cancer but lost her battle and can finally rest easy now that she has gained her wings. She will be dearly missed.
Virginia is preceded in death by her stepson Michael Shawn Kraatz and her sister Patricia Garrett. She is survived by her husband Gary Kraatz; children Diane LoCicero, Michael LoCicero, Brian LoCicero(Misty), Kathy Day; stepchild Michelle DuPratt(Kevin); sister Carolyn Burcher; 7 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Travis Franklin, Daniel Skiles, Jesse East, Jerry Ward, Henry Kraatz and Gene Lamb.
A visitation for Virginia will be held Sunday, January 9, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Monday, January 10, 2022 at 2:30 PM at 4699 - Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A committal service will occur Monday, January 10, 2022 at 3:30 PM at 4699 - Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
