The family was transferred often and they lived in many towns in WV, Fairmont, Bluefield, Beckley, Huntington, Charleston. Ginny went to West Virginia University in Morgantown where she met the love of her life, James William Warren Toney, known as "Bill". Their favorite story was when Ginny got Bill on a five dollar bet. A sorority sister bet her $5.00 she couldn't get a date with him. They lived in Parkersburg, WV then moved to the Chicago area followed by Richmond, VA, High Point and Charlotte, NC and later spent many years in Ridgewood, Northwest Bergen County, NJ.
Ginny went into Real Estate and was always proud of being a member of the Million Dollar Sales, as she would say, "when houses sold for $20,000 each". In 1981 Bill was transferred to Houston, TX and Ginny gave up Real Estate and followed her interest and hobby of genealogy.
Ginny served on the Ad Hoc committee to start the Clayton Library Friends which then led to serving as President and other jobs with the CLF. She was a member of Lady Washington DAR, Col John Alston Chapter of the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, James Asbury Tait Chapter of Daughters of the War of 1812 and many historical groups.
Ginny was known for her jokes. Although she was mischievous as a young person and pulling pranks, she was most proud of the fact that she was also on the honor roll in school and a member of the National Honor Society.
Ginny is preceded in death by her two children, James Carlin and Jane Ellen, and her beloved husband Bill, who passed in 1994. She is survived by her four children, Charles P. "Chuck" Toney, of Paris, TX, John S. Toney of Stephenville, VA, Sandra Zauner of Lubbock, TX, and Nancy Tanchek of Ewing, NJ., six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clayton Library Friends.
