After a 2 year struggle with cancer, Walter Le Roy LeBlanc, Jr., 53, of Crosby, TX, went to be with the Lord on April 22, 2019. Walter, AKA Roy, was born and raised in Rhode Island, however, he spent the majority of his life residing in Louisiana. At 18 years old he joined the Armed Forces and became an Army Ranger. Walter was very proud of his service in the military. After his service he built a career in construction until 2004/2005 when he was diagnosed with his first cancer. He won that battle, but was then placed on disability. He really enjoyed working in construction and had become quite the craftsman. He missed the trade very much. He also loved to hunt and fish. His favorite memory was riding his Tonka trucks down the steep driveway at his childhood home in Rhode Island, and his favorite color was blue.
Walter was preceded in death by his father, Walter Le Roy LeBlanc, Sr., his grandparents Phillipe LeBlanc, Esther Gervais LeBlanc, Joseph Ovid Flamand, and Marie Alice Belzil Flamand.
He is survived by his Mother Jannine Elizabeth McConnon, sister Jannine Esther Ledvina with husband Jeffrey Ledvina, step sister Missy Jarreau, nieces Jessica TenBrook with husband James TenBrook and Jacqui Alloway with husband Steven Alloway, nephew Brennon Jarreau, great nephews Riley Theriot and Hayden TenBrook.
The family is thankful for the prayers and support of many; from the caregivers, nurses, and doctors at the Veterans Hospital in Houston and in Nashville, Tennessee, who supported him through his journey; to the VA shuttle drivers who got him safely to his many appointments.
A graveside service will be held at the Houston National Cemetery on Wednesday, May 1st, 2019 at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe account was setup to help with the cost of Walter's burial.
