Walter (Tucker) Herman Steigerwald III of Houston, Texas passed away on June 19, 2025 at the age of 70. He was born on October 6,1954 in Harris County Texas.
He graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a business degree. During his college years, he wrote several papers on the Civil War and Texas history. His special interest was in the Alamo and the subsequent battles.
Walter worked in the insurance industry until his passing and was the owner of Robinson & Associates Insurance Agency. One of Walter’s greatest passions was to study God’s Word and attend Bible Study Fellowship. He was a longtime member of the Houston Chinese church and active in the children’s Sunday School ministry. Another passion was jogging; he would do this often on weekends and on weekdays after work, jogging for three miles at Memorial Park with close friends. He also enjoyed grilling steaks on the weekends and collecting memorabilia of John Wayne and the Alamo. Thanksgiving was his favorite time of the year— on that weekend he always watched It’s a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, and White Christmas.
He was preceded in death by his father Walter Herman Steigerwald Jr, mother Elizabeth Brodie Durham, and brother Richard (Dana) Steigerwald. He is survived by his sister Elizabeth (Libby) Baird Steigerwald, nieces Alyson Michael (husband Mike), Kathryn and
Jennifer Steigerwald, great niece Sarah Hines, great nephews Jacob and George Michael.
Colossians 3:12 “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Walter did just that. He was always kind and considerate, showing genuine interest and concern for others, and offered words of Godly encouragement. He did all this with Spirit-led humbleness and gentleness.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial service at Houston Chinese Church, 10305 S. Main Street Houston, TX 77025 on July 26, 2025 at 11:00 am.
