

Walther William Winkel "Papa", 72 was born on October 10, 1938 in Houston, Texas. He answered his Savior's call to eternal life on the evening of Saturday, February 26, 2011 in Houston, Texas. Walther will be remembered as a very loving and caring man who had a passion for his family, church, St. Stephens United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the United Methodist Men's Group and the Asbury Class and his family farm. He leaves to cherish his memories and continue his legacy of love, his devoted wife of fifty wonderful years, Gracie Odom Winkel; one son, Cary W. Winkel; one daughter, Lisa Winkel Lange and her husband Kevin; two grandsons, William Lange and Andrew Lange; one brother-in-law, three sisters-in-law, numerous nephews and nieces, other relatives and dear friends. He is reunited with his parents, E.C. Winkel, Sr. and Annie Walther Winkel and one brother, Dr. E.C. Winkel, II. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 from five until eight o'clock in the evening at Pat H. Foley & Company. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Stephens United Methodist Church, 2003 W. 43rd St., Houston, Texas 77018 on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at one o'clock in the afternoon. Walther will await the resurrection at Rosewood Memorial Park in Humble, Texas. In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions may be made in Walther's honor to St. Stephens United Methodist Church.
