Wanda Estelle Watson Williams, 91, passed away while surrounded by loved ones on the 13th of September 2012. She was born on the 24th of July 1921 in Franklin, Texas, to Dallas and Verna Watson. Her teenage years were spent in Bryan where she met her husband of 71 years, Carl Williams. After moving to Houston in the 50’s, Wanda and Carl welcomed their son, Lester, and daughter, Cynthia, into their home. Wanda loved being a Mother, found joy in teaching Sunday School at River Oaks Baptist, and was a devoted Executive Assistant at Dannenbaum Engineering. In her spare time, she took up running. She raced in many 5k’s, and frequently medaled in her age group! After nearly 30 years with the company, Wanda retired and devoted her time to her family. She loved to play cards and Dominos with her grandchildren, especially “42”. Her love for traveling took her and her husband all around the world on many cruises. In the latter part of her life, Wanda fought a valiant fight against Alzheimer’s for many years. But, through that, her love for her family was seen in her radiant smile. She is survived by her husband, Carl Williams; son, Lester Williams (Becky Williams); daughter, Cynthia Ann Knies (Alfred T. Knies III); and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
