Wayne was born on August 1, 1926 in Dodd City, Texas to Horace George Kennedy and Beulah Belle (Denney) Kennedy. He died in Houston, Texas on May 8, 2016. He grew up in the country and loved telling stories about that way of life. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the USS Barnwell and told a lot of stories about those days, too.

In his younger years, he was a softball player on various church and company teams. He loved camping with his family at Huntsville and Tyler State Parks. He was a hunter. He loved to bowl. And he was known for his barbecue, especially his melt-in-your-mouth brisket. He was a Little League coach when his boys were growing up. He was known for his joke-telling also.
He fought the good fight. He finished the race. Well-done, good and faithful worker.
