A veteran of the Korean War, Weldon served in the United States Air Force as a radio operator aboard the B-29 aircraft. After his military service he attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where he received his degree in electrical engineering.
In 1958 Weldon married his high school sweetheart, Charlotte Blach. They lived in Denver until 1975 and then moved to Houston, Texas where he was a small business owner until he retired.
He was an avid reader and news follower. In his retirement years he built a model railroad village from scratch, studied astronomy, created his own website (before it was “easy”), built and flew model airplanes, was a licensed ham radio operator, learned to sail his own sailboat, etc. He also enjoyed pro football, spending time with his family, and traveling throughout the south with Charlotte.
Weldon was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Blach Wegner; his youngest daughter, Ann Wegner; parents, Albert Wegner & Emma Goeglein Wegner; a brother, Vernon Wegner; and a sister, Arneita Cass. He is survived by his oldest daughter, Kay Evans; grandsons Jerry Evans & Mark Evans; his nephew, Larry Wegner (of Denver); and his sister-in-law Wanda Smith (of Yuma).
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am. on August 13, 2016 at Forest Park Cemetery (Westheimer). The family is requesting no flowers. Instead, feel free to make a small donation to a charity of your choice.
