Wilby Billie Doreen English English Crawford

Wilby Doreen English Crawford passed away at home on Monday, the 18th of April 2011. She was affectionately known to her family and friends as “Billie”. She was born on the 11th of March 1925 in Saskatchewan, Canada.

She met her husband, Thomas Crawford, in Canada, while he was in the United States Air Force stationed at Fort Nelson, British Columbia. They were married in Canada and Wilby came to the United States as a War Bride. They had two daughters, Linda Gail Crawford and Susan Kay Crawford.

Wilby is preceded in death by her daughter, the late Linda Crawford McDonald; sisters, the late Olive English Thatcher and the late Lorraine English Loberg; brothers, the late Wayne English and the late Thomas Shaw; and by her sister-in-law, the late Laura Crawford Grounsell.

Wilby is survived by her husband, Thomas Horace Crawford; daughter, Susan Crawford Akerman; son-in-law, Don Akerman, Jr.; grandchildren, Thomas Akerman and wife Janett, Amanda Akerman Bahan and husband Nathan; and great-granddaughter, Zoe Bahan; all of Katy, Texas.

She is also survived by her son-in-law, Robert McDonald of Houston; grandchildren, Katherine McDonald of Houston and Jeffrey McDonald of Lubbock; also her brother, Wally Shaw and his wife Donna of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; sister, Florence Carrigan and her husband Kevin of Chace, British Columbia, Canada; brothers-in-law, William Crawford and wife Ann, Jim Crawford and Scott Grounsell; sisters-in-law, Ellen Crawford McElroy, Janice Crawford Boehl, Gloria Crawford, Rita Crawford Belcher and husband Chet, and Marcia Crawford Williams and husband John; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 26th of April, at the Church of the Holy Apostles, 1225 West Grand Parkway South in Katy, where the Rev. Dr. Darrel Proffitt, Rector, is to officiate.
