

William Day Marshall passed away April 13, 2012 in Houston, Texas. Born on July 4, 1924 in Madisonville, Texas to Jim Bill and Berta Jane Colwell Marshall. He graduated from Madisonville High School and enlisted in the Navy in 1942. He married Carline Colwell on December 24, 1944. He was discharged from the Navy in 1945 and they started their married life in Houston, Texas. While in the Navy, he learned the skills of making and processing microfilm which became his life’s occupation. Along with some other entrepreneurial minded men, he created Southern Microfilm Corporation. In the late 1960’s they received a contract with NASA to process microfilm, for the manned space missions. He enjoyed time spent in Madisonville caring for his acreage there.
He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He loved the Lord’s church and was a member at Highway 249 Church of Christ. In the past, he was a member at Garden Oaks Church of Christ where he served as a deacon and elder. He assisted these churches in many ways but most loved teaching Sunday School classes.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; an infant son, James Day Marshall and a grandson, Derrick Marshall Bebb.
Left to cherish his memory are his twin daughters, Ladelle Bebb of Houston and Janelle and husband Neil Walter of Oglesby, Texas; four grandchildren, Esther Walter, Leah and husband Phillip Poarch, Collin Walter and Lowell Walter and many nieces, nephews, friends and other family members.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be Friday, April 20, 2012 from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at Pat H. Foley & Company. A Graveside Celebration of Life will be Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenbriar Cemetery located on Greenbriar Road in Madisonville, Texas.
