The son of John and Lillian Rielly, Bill was born March 10, 1968, in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Northbrook High School with the Class of 1986 and from the University of Houston in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. For over 20 years, Bill served as a clerk of courts for the US Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Texas, Dallas Division.
Bill enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling, camping, socializing, and serving in numerous activities. Bill was an avid sports fan and loved traveling to games near and far. Bill loved visiting different sports venues - especially cheering on the University of Houston, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Astros. He looked forward to his annual ‘Boys from the Branch’ bucket list road trip, thrived on competitive games of Words with Friends, and cherished exchanging witty banter with his family and friends. Bill had a heart as big as Texas, kind, generous, and always open. He was the friend who always made time to listen, who could lift your spirits with his quick wit and hearty laugh, and who somehow always had the perfect, most random sports fact on hand. Bill never forgot a birthday, and every Christmas, you could count on receiving one of his thoughtful, handwritten cards. He had a true gift for creative writing and a deep love for fantasy football, both of which he approached with passion, humor, and a touch of magic. But most of all, Bill enjoyed the company of family and friends to share good times.
In addition to his parents, John and Lillian Rielly, Bill was preceded in death by his brother Bob.
He is survived by his siblings: Cheryl, sister-in-law, (Bob’s widow) Rielly of Dallas, TX, Tom (& Patricia) Rielly of Cypress, TX, Paul (& Shawn) Rielly of Southlake, TX, Pat Rielly of Houston, TX, Kathy (& Philip) Naff of Houston, TX, and Ed (& Alma) Rielly of Cypress, TX. He is also survived by twelve nieces and nephews: Matthew, Andrew, Adam, Kellyn, Doug, Megan, Ryan, Connor, Joe Rielly, Rachel Naff, Geoff and Maggie Rielly, as well as six grand nieces and grand nephews: Leila, Grant, Quinn, Hayes, Cal and Reece Rielly.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill’s behalf to the American Heart Association, All Kids Play.org, Kids Meal Inc.org, or a charity of your choice.
We'll always remember to forget those things that made you sad,
And we'll never forget to remember those things that made you glad!
We'll always remember to forget the troubles that passed our way,
Yet never forget to remember, the blessings of knowing you each day.
SLAN ABHAILE
("Slawn A-wall-ya” means safe home)
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
the rains fall soft upon your fields and,
until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
