

William Markee Scott went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, September 19, 2013. Bill was 52 years old and lived in Houston, Texas with his wife of 18 years, Anna Scott and their sons, Hunter and Blake.
Bill was born in Newton, Kansas and graduated from Wichita State University in 1985. After moving to Houston in 1987 Bill became an active member at Second Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, taught Sunday school, and participated in many intramural baseball teams. Bill’s greatest treasure was his family. He was a dedicated father who had a passion for coaching his boys in their various sports teams. He was an avid golfer, loved cheering on his favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals, and spent most Saturdays during the fall watching college football. Bill was well respected in the oil and gas industry having worked at BHP, Burlington Resources and ConocoPhillips over the last 28 years. He was known for his big laugh and ease in sharing his expertise and knowledge as well as his many contributions to charity events. Many in the industry have expressed that he was not only an exceptional trader, but an outstanding mentor.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents C. Kirk Scott, Jr. and Betty Jean Scott. Bill is survived by his wife Anna Marie Voelkel Scott; sons William Hunter Scott and Blake Harris Scott, all of Houston, Texas; sister Judy Gilchrist and her husband Jim of Wichita, Kansas; brother Kirk Scott and his wife Diane of Prairie Village, Kansas; brother Brad Brown of Wichita, Kansas; nephews Jason Gilchrist, Brock and Buck Brown; nieces Patricia Scott and Anna Scott.
The Scott family would like to thank the staff at MD Anderson and especially Dr. Robert Wolff, Physician Assistant Kelli Nugent, and Michael Umana of St. Francis Healthcare for their exceptional care and concern over the last two and a half years. Memorial donations may be made payable to MD Anderson Cancer Center and identify Dr. Wolff in the memo line.
A Visitation will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway Houston, TX 77079 on Monday, September 23, 2013 from 6-8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Second Baptist Church 6400 Woodway Drive, Houston, TX 77057 at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, September 24, 2013. Burial will be held at Memorial Oaks Cemetery 13001 Katy Freeway Houston, TX 77079
